The main aim of the conference entitled Preventive conservation of the human environment 6. Architecture as part of the landscape was to identify learning points arising from the ideas of Professor Andrzej Tomaszewski, eminent theoretician of conservation.

The conference began with opening remarks by the President of the Organising Committee, Weronika Kobylińska-Bunsch, who has underlined that this conference could not be organized without the financial support for which we would like to deeply thank the following institutions: the Institute of Art History, University of Warsaw, the University of Warsaw Foundation, Res Publica Multhiethnica Foundation and Phd students’ Research Group at the Faculty of History of the University of Warsaw.

We are most grateful to have such an outstanding key-note speakers.
During the two days of the conference, held on the campuses of the two Warsaw universities, we had a great pleasure to guest and listen to interesting lectures delivered by 66 participants from 22 countries, such as: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Germany, India, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine and USA.
We wish to thank all our participants for presenting their achievements as well as the chairpersons and listeners for contributing to the success of the conference. General ambience was terrific thanks to your presence, involvement and the discussions initiated by you. Your work was truly exceptional.
We hope to have more opportunity to work together in the future.
In 2017 the articles by our participants will be published – the proceedings of the conference will be a great summarize and closure of our efforts.
We do hope that information and knowledge exchanged during those two days will generate fresh ways of thinking about the role of the architecture in creation, enhancement and preservation of cultural landscapes.
